I’m Ashley, a wedding and family photographer based in Fresno, California. I’m a deep feeler, detail lover, and forever fan of ordinary moments that carry extraordinary meaning. With a background in nonprofit work and a heart for connection, I photograph people with the same intentionality I bring to relationships: with presence, purpose, and a calm, reassuring energy.
When I’m not behind the camera, I’m at the park with my husband, watching our son explore the playground, getting lost in the pages of historical fiction, or gathered on the front lawn with neighbors as we share food, laughter, and stories.

Why did you become a photographer? Tell the story of what brought you here.
I didn’t grow up dreaming of becoming a photographer, but I’ve always been drawn to stories—the quiet, everyday kind that unfold in glances, gestures, and fleeting in-between moments. Before photography, I worked in the nonprofit world, spending my days listening, serving, and creating space for people to feel seen and valued. Then came 2020.
Like so many others, I was laid off. I suddenly found myself at home, in an uncertain world, wondering what came next. I needed something that would ground me, something that brought me joy. So I picked up my camera—not as a business move, but as a way to document the beauty I still believed existed, even in the middle of fear and disruption.
What started as a creative outlet slowly grew into something more. I began photographing friends, then friends of friends, and soon people I’d never met. Over and over, clients would tell me, “I didn’t realize how much this moment mattered until I saw it this way.” That’s when I knew photography could be more than pictures. It could be presence. It could be a way to help people feel deeply seen.
I didn’t become a photographer to chase perfection. I became a photographer to honor the real, the messy, the meaningful. Whether I’m documenting a wedding day or the everyday beauty of family life, my work is about connection, truth, and the quiet power of being fully present.

What behind the scenes task do you love the most?
I genuinely love engaging on social media with past clients. It feels like an extension of the relationship we built during their session. Getting to see life updates, watch their kids grow, celebrate milestones, and share in fun family moments makes the work feel even more meaningful. It’s not just about posting my own content; it’s about staying connected and continuing to cheer people on long after their gallery is delivered.
What is a hidden talent or surprising fact about you?
I can sing the alphabet backward! I’m actually faster at it than singing it the regular way. It’s a totally useless party trick, but it never fails to make people laugh.

What’s the best piece of advice you ever received?
Presence over perfection. It reminds me that showing up fully, even when things aren’t polished or perfect, matters more than getting everything exactly right. It’s shaped the way I parent, run my business, and approach my work with clients.
Any unpopular opinion about the photo industry?
There’s a photographer and a price point for everyone—even those just starting out offering $20 mini sessions. I’ve been there. We all start somewhere, and those early experiences help shape how we grow. Not every client is meant for every photographer, and that’s a good thing. There’s space in this industry for all kinds of talent, experience levels, and business models.

What is the hardest thing about being a photographer, and what is the best thing?
What is the hardest thing about being a photographer, and what is the best thing? The hardest part of being a photographer is the unpredictability. Income can shift with the seasons, and life doesn’t always align with the busy months on the calendar. I never planned to run my own business. In fact, I really didn’t want to. The idea of managing marketing, finances, and all the behind-the-scenes details felt overwhelming. I just wanted to create meaningful work and serve people well.
But over time, the thing I once feared became the part I now value most. The best thing about being a photographer is having control over my time. I get to choose how I work and when I work. I can spend slow mornings at the park with my husband and son, be present for everyday moments, and still contribute to our family’s income in a real and meaningful way. I never expected to enjoy the business side of this work, but now I see it as the thing that gives me the freedom to live the life I want—both in my work and at home.

What’s a habit or routine that has changed your life for the better?
Getting outside intentionally at least once a day. Living in California, I know what a privilege it is to have sunshine and blue skies most of the year, even if we do pay for it with some brutal 115-degree summers. Whether it’s a walk to the park, time in the backyard, or a quiet moment on the porch, being outside helps me reset. It grounds me, clears my head, and reminds me to slow down and stay present.
